The EMBS chapter (Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society) of the McMaster University Student Branch invites all interested members to a meeting on Monday March 5th from 7:15 to 8:15 pm in ITB A113 on McMaster campus. The event will be a company talk by Israel Gasperin Haaz, the founder of Zentrela Inc., a startup at the Forge. He'll be talking about his experiences as an entrepreneur and of founding Zentrela. He'll also be talking about a product Zentrela is currently working on, the Cognalyzer™. This device is the a marijuana intoxication detector that eliminates false positive results due to THC residues in the body. Zentrela's mission is to utilize the human brain as core input to improve safety in the workplace and on the roads, providing objective and rapid results, to protect marijuana users from false accusations, and allow employers and law enforcement organizations to mitigate the risks of marijuana intoxication. Light refreshments will be provided and doors will open at 7pm. Chair Michal Roztocki hopes you can come out!

Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at McMaster University annual ECE Expo (previously known as Poster Day) For details on the event, please refer to their website - www.eng.mcmaster.ca/ece/ece-expo This exciting showcase features the capstone design projects developed by groups of final year undergraduate students in the Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Electrical & Biomedical Engineering programs.  There are 47 projects this year, and 184 students eager to show you what they can do!  Everyone is welcome, and admission is free.  Drop in, and browse at your leisure.  Located in the McMaster University Student Centre (MUSC), on the 3rd floor. Sponsoring: All donations will be used to cover the cost of the event, including the cash prizes for the top 3 teams in each category, and costs associated with the projects. The sponsoring companies are welcome to provide us with a brief advertising video to play on the big screen in the background of the event, display their company banner, and provide promotional materials for students. Sponsoring companies will also be noted in our pre- and post- event coverage. Judges will be on a team of 3-4 professionals. Each student group will deliver a presentation of approximately 10 minutes long, outlining the scope and design of their project, and then will demonstrate it. Judges will score the group, according to a set of guidelines, and have the opportunity to ask the group questions. Scores will be tallied, and cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams in each category. Judges attending on behalf of a company will have their company logo included on our background slide show, are welcome to bring a company banner, and provide promotional material to hand out. Volunteer Training – Spring 2019

Volunteer training for Section executive is provided prior to the IEEE Canada Spring Board meeting. Section chairs are especially encouraged to attend, but everyone is welcome and will find it useful. This year there will be a breakout session in the afternoon for Life Member Affinity Group (LMAG) chairs. Training is free, and lunch is provided. Some more information is posted on Collabratec, in the “Canada LMAG Training” group. You have to sign in to your Collabratec account (IEEE credentials) and may need to join the group to see Canada-LMAG-Training. Last year’s information is posted on Collabratec Region 7 Volunteer Training but that is a private group, and the owner needs to approve you joining.
